Welcome!

Hi, I’m Marco – Director Design & Design Management at Loewe. I lead the Loewe Design Studio, a small, international team of industrial, UX and interaction designers shaping how Loewe looks, feels and works.

For more than 20 years I have been designing products at the intersection of technology, craftsmanship and emotion. Since Loewe’s relaunch in 2020, I have been responsible for the brand’s design strategy and its product design – from first idea to series production.

My approach follows one principle: Significant Simplicity. Products should be reduced, intuitive and timeless, without losing technical depth. Quality, material and manufacturing competence are not details to me, they are the core.

My work has received more than 100 international design and innovation awards since 2005, and I served on the jury of the iF Design Award in 2022 and 2023. I studied Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design, and graduated in Integrated Product Design at Coburg University of Applied Sciences.

When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me in the mountains for snowboarding, cycling through the Franconian hills – or enjoying a cold, honest Franconian beer in my beloved hometown.

A good friend once said: “Marco is very difficult to describe. You never know what he’s going to do or what he’s going to say. He’s incredibly humorous, exceptionally creative and always good for a surprise. If he would work in the candy industry, he would be the Franconian Willy Wonka.”

Below you’ll find the work I have shaped and significantly contributed to – from first sketch to series production.

Hallo, ich bin Marco – Director Design & Design Management bei Loewe. Mit dem Loewe Design Studio, einem kleinen, internationalen Team aus Industrial-, UX- und Interaction-Designern, sorge ich dafür, wie Loewe aussieht, sich anfühlt und funktioniert.

Seit über 20 Jahren gestalte ich Produkte dort, wo Technik, Handwerk und Emotion zusammenkommen. Seit dem Neustart von Loewe 2020 verantworte ich Designstrategie und Produktdesign der Marke – von der ersten Skizze bis zum fertigen Serienprodukt.

Mein Leitsatz: Significant Simplicity. Gute Produkte sind reduziert, selbsterklärend und zeitlos – und trotzdem technisch auf der Höhe. Qualität, Material und Fertigung sind für mich nicht das Sahnehäubchen, sondern das Fundament.

Für meine Arbeit gab es seit 2005 über 100 internationale Design- und Innovationspreise. 2022 und 2023 durfte ich selbst in der Jury des iF Design Award sitzen. Studiert habe ich Maschinenbau und Industriedesign, meinen Abschluss in Integrated Product Design habe ich an der Hochschule Coburg gemacht.

Wenn ich nicht im Studio bin, findet man mich zum Snowboarden in den Bergen, mit dem Rad in der Fränkischen Schweiz – oder bei einem kühlen, ehrlichen fränkischen Bier in meiner geliebten Heimatstadt.

Ein guter Freund hat mal über mich gesagt: „Marco ist schwer zu beschreiben. Bei ihm weißt du nie, was als Nächstes kommt. Er hat unglaublich viel Humor, ist wahnsinnig kreativ und immer für eine Überraschung gut. Würde er Süßigkeiten herstellen, wäre er der fränkische Willy Wonka.“
